Honokeana Cove 209 is a 3-bedroom 2-bath top floor unit just 8 miles north of historic Lahaina Town. This lush, tropical 38-unit property sits on a secluded cove with breathtaking views of passing whales (in season), dolphins and the island of Molokai. The cove offers some of the best snorkeling on Maui without the crowds. Countless encounters with sea turtles, coral formations and tropical fish are easily had at the cove. A heated swimming pool and oceanside grills are only steps from the unit. The acclaimed white sand beaches of Napili Bay (5 min walk) and Kapalua Bay (10 min walk) offer additional snorkel, paddle board and swimming opportunities. Great restaurants, coffee shops, snorkel/paddle board rentals and groceries are all within walking distance. World-class golfing at Kapalua is just minutes away.

Cove 209 has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom on the first level and a private loft bedroom with bathroom upstairs. The unit’s corner location and abundant windows take advantage of Hawaiian trade winds for airflow. A lush old-growth Kamani tree off the lanai provides shade, privacy and comfort throughout the day. The unit is bright, airy and clutter-free with modern conveniences like USB outlets, touch faucet and smart ceiling fans.

Downstairs is a large room with king bed and a smaller room with two twin beds. The upstairs loft is open, yet private and has a king bed. All beds are Purple brand mattresses. Each bedroom has blackout curtains and reading lights. Bathrooms on both floors have walk-in showers and ample “elbow room”. Bath and pool towels are provided.

The open kitchen is equipped with KitchenAide appliances, sharp knives and OXO tools. Quality small appliances include a coffee maker, blender and electric griddle; making breakfast at home easy. Three gas grills are available for oceanside cooking while watching the sunset. The carefully curated kitchen should contain everything you need, and nothing you don’t.

Indoors is a 42” drop leaf dining table, chaise sofa and lounge chair surrounding a large coffee table perfect for board games or puzzles. A Samsung FrameTV displays artwork when not in use. The outdoor lanai has shaded dining for 8 plus a daybed for when you want to get lost in a book or an afternoon nap.

  we had a group of friends stay here, and our local friends recommended Napili for the beaches. The condo was impeccable and had everything we needed. Even a few loaner chairs and float noodles which were so great to have. Loved the sea turtles everyday and the tiki torches at night with sunset. Just a perfect spot, beach access is a few minutes walk around to the next bay, otherwise enjoy the rocky Honokeana Bay perfect for swimming, snorkeling and paddleboarding. Wish we could have stayed forever.

  We stayed at Honeakana Cove, unit 209 for 11 nights. It was out second visit to Maui and we will never stay anywhere else! The condo sits on the most beautiful cove where dozens of sea turtles live. The best snorkeling on Maui is in your backyard! Napili Beach (my favorite on Maui) is just a 5 minute walk. You are minutes from Kapalua, the blow hole, Two tiered pools, etc. Napili Market is just a few blocks away - a fantastic market with everything you will need after your Costco run. Su at front desk is EXCEPIONAL!!! We forgot fathers day cards and I stopped in the office to ask for some blank paper for my boys to make cards - and she gave us her handmade cards that are just beatiful. Unit 209 is perfect in every way - well stocked and simply/tastefully decorated. We floated on tubes and watched the sunset most nights. Grills are great too - I thought we would eat out more but we didnt want to leave the cove, so we grilled in most nights. This place is exceptional!!!! Thank you, Honokeana Cove for such a lovely vacation!

  The location was fabulous. The staff and management were great. The bed was comfortable, I was in the loft. The upstairs bathroom exhaust fan was of no use.
  I found the living room and dining area lacking. The furniture is very uncomfortable, and the lighting was poor.
  The kitchen was ok, but the microwave was very small. The oven looked great, but was dirty inside, there were no instructions.

  We had a wonderful time. Sue and Betty couldn't have been more accommodating. The condo we had was outdated, but we were informed of that prior to making our reservation, which was appreciated greatly. It is our understanding that it will be updated soon. This corner location had the most spectacular view and we would stay here again in a heartbeat. We saw whales everyday, turtles sunbathed right in front of us. The snorkeling and paddle boarding was wonderful. We even had a race from the opening of the cove to the shore! Definitely a vacation to remember!

  I have been staying here for more than 20 years. This unit has been just sold and is not in the usual high quality of the other units. I do believe that the new owners are going to make new improvements. The size of the unit is great for a family or 2 couples. I no longer care to climb stairs so I usually rent a lower unit. I was lucky to get a unit at all, so I was just happy to be here in this lovely setting. I will be back again next year.

  Honokeana Cove was exactly what we were looking for. Property was beautiful, well maintained, staff were helpful and friendly.
  Unit #209 left us disappointed with the unit only!
  It apparently is in escrow and lets hope the new owners clean it up and update it appropriately.
  We knew it was in rough shape when we booked, but it really is in rough rough shape!!!!! We did not let the unit spoil our stay at Honokeana and we certainly hope to return in the future.

  Not too fancy but comfortable in a terrific location on a cove full of turtles and lovely fish. Hard to find this level on the coast which has enormous complexes that are newer and more expensive but pretty generic and far more expensive. This place is like home-- quirky. Some units more up-to-date than others. The one we rented needs an upgrade but was fine for our family. We could cook for ourselves--there are three gas grills for guests. Hard to beat!

  We have stayed at Honokeana Cove in the past. It is a family destination in a great West Maui location. The best asset is the private snorkeling cove with many resident sea turtles. While this is an older property the units are generally well maintained and clean. The staff are also very accommodating and make you feel like family. We find the second floor loft units offer a great value for the number of bedrooms and space.
  
  On our latest visit in June 2018, we stayed in unit 209 and found it clean but several years overdue for a major renovation. The flooring was well worn and in need of replacing, as was the furniture and kitchen appliances. The chairs and sofa were so uncomfortable that we sat on side pillows to add some cushion. The electrical switches in the kitchen had to be in a midway position to turn on sink light. The entire unit was also over-decorated with island souvenirs and art. There were 3 TVs in the unit, but we could have used printed instructions to operate the digital TV and DVD player.
  
  In all we enjoyed our stay, and had a great vacation at Honokeana Cove. We just want others to be aware to ask about the upgrade status of any units they are planning to rent.

  Honokeana Cove is our favorite place to stay in Maui. We've stayed in numerous units over the years and this was by far the most need of updating. The carpet was old and stained. Even the wrought iron patio furniture with vinyl seats have seen their day. They did add nice granite on top of the original dated cabinets, which was odd. Also, the unit does have a fair amount road noise, but it helped to shut windows and curtains. Other than that the staff and property were fantastic as usual. Will come back again, just not to this unit.

  Spending my 60th birthday in Hawaii was awesome, but only 3 of my 8 days were allotted for Maui. HKC has always been my home away from home when visiting Maui, and this trip reinforced my love for it. I do miss the old lava rock facade on the buildings giving it that old Hawaiian charm, but the grounds are still beautiful and very well kept - the plants and grass lush and blooming. I already booked my return for December, but for 8 days at HKC! Mahalo nui loa!

  Overall it was a great vacation. Can't beat the location, views and beautiful grounds. Some things need improvement....unit 209 is getting run down and needs a makeover. The downstairs bathroom had a plastic ceiling cover above the tub that fell on my grand daughter. She's OK but it scared the s--- out of her.
  
  My only other suggestion is the ocean access. The steps down end too far away to be of much use. The rocks make for a challenging entry and exit from the water. This is OK for the younger folks but elderly or disabled have a tough time. Some ideas that could help are:
  1. Extend the stairs another 30-40 ft. out into the water.
  2. Extend the hand rail 30-40 ft. farther.
  3. Make a ramp on left side of sea wall that extends into water.

  I spent 2 weeks at the Cove in Feb/March, staying in 3 different units. Unit 209, one of the larger condos, was a good choice for 5 of us. Though in need of some updates--which will be happening in May, we were told--we loved the views and the space of this unit. And of course, the real draw of Honokeana Cove is outside, not indoors. Swimming with turtles multiple times a day, watching whales breach on the horizon, chatting with the regulars who come back year after year--this is what Honokeana Cove offers, and we will be back!

  We arrived after office hours to the keys waiting in the managers mail box. The unit was clean and well appointed, LOVED the view when we woke up in the morning. More importantly it was quite. The perfect vacation spot to relax and hang out with your family. All the beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. The only thing I could "complain" about was that there weren't any extra blankets (that I could locate), only the thin bed cover and sheets. I would have liked an extra blanket. We definitely will plan on requesting this unit again!

  Honokeana Cove is a quiet, private condo on Maui's west shore. It is located on a marvellous snorkelling cove with a killer view of Molokai. The sandy beach is a 1-2 block walk. Unit 209 is 2 Br + upstairs loft bedrrom and 2 full baths. The unit is well stocked. It is clean and the furnishings are more than adequate.
  
  In all, if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing place to stay on Maui, this is it. It is particularly well suited for extended stays. Many of the guests get to know each other at the pool or communal BBQs.

  This was a lovely resort but we unfortunately had a below average condo. Upon arrival we found the condo had not been inspected and cleaning products were left out, a smoke detector was chirping, and bath towels were missing. Resident manager was extremely helpful and corrected everything right away. First surprise was no air conditioning. This was not communicated well upon booking...I eventually found a blurb on the FAQ page of the website, buried under "Heating and Cooling" that not all condos have air. Would not have been an issue except our condo was located next to the road and we were awakened every day at 5:30am by the noise. Air with closed windows would have greatly reduced the traffic noise. Condo is in desperate need of updating. Dresser drawers were broken, beds very uncomfortable, door knobs on bedrooms would stay locked after leaving the room, then blow shut by the breeze and we would get locked out. Fortunately the resident manager provided us with the keys. Another smoke detector went off at 3:00am that we had to dismantle. The video on the website made the condo appear lighter and brighter than it actually was. Again, updating the dark wood paneling would make it more light and appealing. I got the feeling this condo is not rented often and the only update it's had in the last 20 years is granite in the kitchen. The resort itself is lovely, beautifully landscaped, great location on the cove with outstanding snorkeling, clean pool, walking distance to Napili Bay and restaurants. At night we could see in some other condos and they looked much nicer than ours. First time we've had a less than excellent experience based on a TripAdvisor high rating. Very disappointing. Would only return if we had an air conditioned unit that was updated.

  This was our 12th visit to Honokeana Cove and it's like coming home. This being said Unit 209 would not be my choice again. This location on the property is very convenient, though it has a fair amount of street noise. Unit needs some work, especially the lighting. Also pretty dark interior. Too much "stuff". Overall, Honokeana is a wonderful relaxing experience with unsurpassed snorkling and atmosphere. Especially good if you want to get away from the "big hotel" experience.

  Not even the rain could dampen our spirits. We loved our stay at the Cove. The view was breathtaking and the grounds beautifully kept. Our condo was a little outdated and could benefit from a furniture rearrangement. The living room area space seemed cramped because of the furniture arrangement and the number of extra pieces. We had friends and family staying in other units and they seemed more recently updated and roomier because of the furniture present and its arrangement. We appreciated the well stocked kitchen and were able to cook everything that we wished. The property managers were amazing-friendly and helpful. We Would love to return and will definitely visit the Gazebo Restaurant again. It was worth waiting in line to have an amazing breakfast. Whales, spinning dolphins and turtles were just some of the wildlife easily seen from our lanai and the snorkeling was as fantastic as described in the brochure. We have already recommended Honokeana Cove to our friends. Thanks for such a fun vacation!

  Honokeana Cove Condos complex is great. Unit flooring is a bit outdated and the master bedroom bed in only a queen as stated in the description. Would like to have had a king at least. Unit 209 bedrooms are next to the highway and can be noisy at nights. I had to close all the windows, run a fan for noise, and sleep with ear plugs. If the temperatures at night didn't cool off it would have been uncomfortable as the unit is not air conditioned. I will be coming back to the condos but will ask to stay in another unit away from the highway. Ma halo.

  We loved our stay in Honokeana. Perfect location without the crowds of Lahaina. The only suggestions I have would be to put a VCR, digital cable and a flat screen TV in each room. In addition, it would have been nice to have a hot tub on site.
  
  The location was perfect for snorkeling, walking to the Gazeebo restaurant, and driving in to Lahaina for more food options.

  The complex is beautiful and well maintained. The condo, however, is pretty shabby - carpets have probably never been replaced. Other than the new granite counters, all furniture seems 40 years old and it should really be replaced. Pictures on the wall are faded. The lighting is very complicated. We stayed in other units in this complex before and they were in much better shape.
