Honokeana Cove is in Napili, West Maui, just 8 miles north of historic Lahaina Town. The gated property surrounds a secluded cove with a breathtaking view of the nearby island of Molokai from every unit. The peaceful cove offers some of the best snorkeling on Maui, with an abundance of coral formations, tropical fish, and green sea turtles. A sparkling heated swimming pool only steps from your condominium adds to the dreamlike atmosphere of this tropical paradise.

NEW TO VACATION CONDO RENTAL? If you're used to giant hotels with mile-long hallways, you'll find Honokeana Cove a refreshing change. You won't have hotel features like daily maid service, 24 hour desk, restaurant, gym or spa. Instead, you'll enjoy comfortable condos with full kitchen, bath and bedroom(s), perfect for couples, families and groups to relax together. We're not a "party" destination, because we keep quiet hours from 10 pm to 8 am. There are just 38 units in this gated oceanfront property, featuring basking sea turtles and never ending sunsets. Enhanced Cleaning and Disinfection: All Honokeana Cove units are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before every guest. Housekeepers use EPA hospital-grade disinfectant sprays and cleaning agents with extra attention to all high-touch surfaces. All dishware including plates, bowls, glassware, coffee cups and silverware is washed at high temperature settings. All soft surfaces, including couches, occasional chairs and mattresses are sprayed with a disinfectant to assure cleanliness and safety. Linens and towels are washed with the highest heat temperature and additional drying time, to ensure proper sanitization.

Cancellations and Refunds: Bookings cancelled more than 30 days prior to check-in will receive refund of deposit less $50 cancellation fee. Less than 30 days prior to arrival date, cancellation forfeits the rental amount. However, if health or a personal issue causes you to cancel, contact the rental office. Guests are strongly encouraged to obtain trip insurance for protection from unforeseen circumstances.

Add Hawaii tax (17.416%; 17.962% effective 1/1/2024) & one cleaning fee to all rates. Specify your total number of guests of all ages for an accurate rate quote.

  We hope to make this an annual visit. So relaxing, well equipped kitchen needs and seasonings (last year's unit didn't have so much as a salt shaker), close to groceries and great restaurants. And the turtles! so fun to snorkel with and watch them sun themselves on the rocks just below us. 118 is the best unit for the view. Love the pool, too. We had a smoke alarm battery go dead and it took a few days to get a replacement, and we waited a day to get one of the screens hung back up after the wind blew it off the window. Minor things so don't let this stop you from booking now!

  My husband I rented unit 118 for our week on Maui. I was a guest at Honokeana Cove in 2005, and the place is just as magical as I remember. The view, the ocean and pool access, the turtles (!!), all perfect. The condo itself was super clean, beds were comfy, and cupboards were stocked with everything we needed. And not to be overlooked, the Honokeana Cove management, from pre-vacation check ins to on site management, were attentive, prompt, and professional. Our stay was lovely and we can't wait to return.
  The Cove is so much better than a fancy Hawaiian resort. It's the ideal Hawaiian home away from home.

  We truly enjoyed our recent Stay at Honokeana Cove. First, the unit itself. Everything was clean and updated, ad the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook meals at the condo. The lanai was very spacious for our party of four my husband, our 4.5 year old daughter and my mom), and we enjoyed having breakfast/coffee and dinner outside. The view from the lanai was spectacular. Our daughter loved seeing all of the turtles directly below the lanai every evening.
  
  It was a bit noisy at times with a larger family with kids above us running around at 5am. And the unit is near the laundry room, so if you're in the master bedroom and like the windows open, you may get some early morning/late night noise from people walking by.
  
  The staff that we came in contact with were all very nice and accommodating. The property is meticulously taken care off--we was the gardener almost every day, and ever morning we saw the resident manager cleaning the pool, grills, etc. Parking spaces are a bit tight but there are plenty of spots.
  
  The cove was amazing for snorkeling. Fish and turtles applenty. And it is only for those staying at HC, so it's never crowded. If you want a sandy beach, Napili Cove beach is a short 5 minute walk away. The Napili Market and shopping center nearby is a nice resource for any groceries you need.
  
  We've stayed at many different places on Maui. Honokeana is our new favorite. Thank you for the beautiful memories.

  The Cove is the perfect vacation location! Our balcony was looking over the ocean and we saw the turtles sunbathing daily. The condo was spotless upon arrival, the grounds were very well-maintained and the customer service was spectacular. We enjoyed snorkeling in the cove numerous times, enjoyed the Sunday morning craft fair in the Ace Hardware parking lot, loved walking Front Street and enjoyed an amazing burger with drinks at the Maui Brewing Co.   As a long time returning visitor (20+ years) the Cove is perfect. Quiet and peaceful. No swim up bar. No restaurant on the premises but the Gazebo, Sea House, and Merryman's are within walking distance. Just guests occupying 35 units enjoying the cove, watching the whales, spinner dolphins this year, and the beloved turtles (highest count this visit was 19 of them sunning themselves on the rock beach below the seawall). Nearly every visitor says hello in the morning and are friendly throughout the day. Cove was clear most days so snorkeling was a joy. Almost everything one sees at the Ocean Center can be seen in the cove at one time or another. Lovely. Simply lovely. Office staff is friendly and helpful. On site manager Rey is pleasant and approachable. Property as a whole is immaculate. We've rented our particular unit repeatedly over the years and it is always neat and clean. We hesitate to recommend the Cove to others only because it is already difficult to obtain a reservation for next year and we don't want the "secret" of how good the Cove is to get out.

  The view from this rental was stunning. Could see sea turtles resting on the rocks below our deck. But the overall comfort inside was deficient. Couch and chairs had scratching material so was not good for relaxing. For anyone who likes a comfortable bed on vacation the master bedroom king will disappoint. Because we couldn’t sleep well we rotated and my daughter switched beds with me since we also rented unit 104. She who is much younger also complained that the mattress was very uncomfortable. . No support, and slumped in like a hammock. For a stay with such a splendid view I would expect more effort in making the interior a restful experience.

  This is our third time staying in Unit 118. This unit's location cannot be beat! It is so close to the water's edge and we always enjoy the turtles coming to rest on the rocks just feet away from the lanai . The entire property is exceptional and we will definitely be back many times. There is never any need to go snorkeling elsewhere or book a snorkeling trip because the snorkeling in the cove is outstanding and so convenient. If you love to snorkel, it's the place to stay! My only negative comment would be the uncomfortable furniture and bedding in this unit. We've chosen this unit 3 times because of it's location, however, I'm afraid we will not choose it again until the furniture is updated. But I reiterate that Honokeana Cove overall is an outstanding place to stay. We particularly loved the Wednesday night movie (Finding Dory) on the lawn at the water's edge right after sunset. We will definitely be back!

Very peaceful.The condo was great, my only suggestion to the owner would be to update the bedspread and blankets to cotton, with the warm nights the polyester was not pleasant. So many turtles and fish. It is a snorklers dream come true. Each unit has a wonderful Lani to sit on and enjoy the scenery. The Honokeana Cove is a laid back family friendly paradise. We stayed in Unit #118 this time. But we have stayed in a number of different units over the years. I would say that unit #118 is one of the best decorated. It has everything you could possibly need. The kitchen has all the nessesary supplies and much more. The owners of this unit #118 deffinitely take pride in how well it is cared for and updated.

  Pros:
  Grounds were immaculate
  Snorkeling was right out the door and wonderful. We saw sea turtles, trigger fish, puffers and a variety of other fish
  View from room could not be beat. Turtles sleep in front of the deck below.
  Staff really nice.
  Condo had fully stocked kitchen with all the basics to use dishwasher, make coffee
  
  Personal opinions (yours may differ, or you may not care):
  Family condo and only 1 boogie board? As a gift, we purchased a boogie board from Costco and left it at the condo, so there are now 2.
  No paddle boards, but saw lots of them with other condos on site.
  Couch was uncomfortable....unless you like sitting on cushions where you can feel the wooden supports underneath....then you’ll be fine.
  No soft flooring. I get why you would want tile in a rental on the beach. But a few area rugs would go a long ways to pad feet when first getting out of bed to keeping the furniture foot stools from sliding out from under your feet.
  Soft beds...I love soft beds, you may not.
  Noise...disclaimer, we live in the country and have teens. There were kids and, yes, they play somewhat loudly (with the occasional tantrum, depending on who is visiting). I love the open slats on the window, but they don’t block noise. However, the whole site is quiet by 10pm and often earlier.
  
  I would not hesitate to recommend this place. FWIW, we snorkeled in 2 other places and never saw sea turtles, but saw multiple turtles every day here.

There is a rental place two doors over where our guests rent paddle boards and other water sport items. This unit is as close as you can get to the water.   This is truly the "Best kept secret in Maui!" The Cove is made up of 33 individually owned condos. All are decorated nicely. The grounds are beautiful and the snorkeling is some of the best of the island. Su, the rental manager is fantastic and will help you whenever needed. We have been staying here for almost 20 years, so obviously we love the place. We're almost afraid to recommend it highly because the occupancy rate is already high enough.

  Honokeana Cove was recommended to us by friends who stay here regularly. We were so happy we stayed here! The experience was just what we were looking for. It's private and well maintained with a pool, lounging area, and snorkeling. It is small, not like the huge hotels in the area. The unit was well equipped, very clean and in overall good condition, with one exception detailed below.* This unit is the very closest to the water and every night 5 turtles nestled up on the shore right down from our deck. It was amazing. The cove is very private and has steps down to the water from which you can get into the water and snorkel. One tip: sit on the rocks a while after snorkeling to regain your equilibrium! It's not the easiest getting in and out but remember, "Sand is your friend. Rocks are not." The beach is rocky so it's not really a swimming beach. The grounds are immaculate thanks to dear Raymond Watson, the resident manager, and the rest of the crew. Don't miss Wednesday night social hour. It's fun to hear how many of the guests are return visitors, some for 20 years or more! One visit here and we understood why they returned. We were told by a local person that it is the only cove like it on the island that is so private and protected. We explored the island and found nothing better. We had two couples in the unit and it was plenty roomy with two bedrooms and two baths. The kitchen was well equipped with cooking supplies and even spices, etc! If we return to Maui, this will be on our list. Go to the Gazebo restaurant next door for breakfast. The line is long but it's a great spot. If you go at 7:00 a.m. you'll only have to wait until they open at 7:30. Plus, with the time difference, it won't seem early to those of us from the mainland. We highly recommend The Cove! *The owner really needs to replace the louvered mechanism on the front door. The maintenance person did a great job of fastening it together, but it's a temporary fix. RW: wear sunscreen!

  We really enjoyed this small property away from the big resort areas especially unit #118 being right over the water. Snorkeling with the turtles was awesome. Our unit was very clean and had everything we needed. The only thing might be the lack of privacy as we could hear our neighbors talking and the heat in the afternoon with a west facing unit and no air conditioning. The windows of the master bedroom faced the back/sidewalk and are louvered screens. But hey you are in Maui - it was overall really a good vacation for our family.

  We stayed at the Honokeana Cove Rental, Unit 118 from August 28, 2015 to Sept. 10th.
  
  The on-site property management company was very helpful and responsive to our needs. The common grounds and pool are very nice with easy access to the ocean for snorkeling and paddle boarding. The property is very safe and secure with locked gates and combination codes.
  
  The Unit itself had both positives and negatives.
  
  The positives; Beautiful view, nice veranda, kitchen was well stocked with all of the utensils, dishes, and misc items that are needed. Kitchen and bathroom counters have been upgraded to granite (very nice and easily cleaned), master bedroom mattress was very comfortable.
  
  Negatives; Temp was in high 80's/low 90's while we were there and even with shades on the deck the unit location made it very warm. We used the ceiling fans which helped a little but would recommend a cooler time of year if you stay in this unit. The master closet had an unpleasant odor and was not useable for clothes storage. It may have been the result of equipment storage, or ?. Because of the temperature, all of the windows had to be left open. Based on the unit location (with windows open) you felt like you were in a fish bowl. Two units and a main walkway right behind you that looked right into the master bedroom.

  A beautiful quiet place. Great for little kids with the pool or for surfers and swimmers. Great kitchen facilities, so no need to eat out unless you want. The snorkel gear wasn't in repair, but rentals are available.

  We LOVED it!! The unit we were in is right up to the Ocean (Cove), we could hear the ocean, feel the breezes and watch the turtles in the Cove until our hearts were content.

  - Pool is small, but adequate.
  - Can snorkel or paddle board in the Cove right in front of the condos. Seeing the turtles everyday is nice.
  - Gas grills for guest use by the pool is nice.
  - Free wifi, a bit slow at times though.
  - Clean unit.
  - Kitchen is stocked with cooking utensils, a blender, pots/pans/baking sheets/covered containers/bowls etc., paper towel, dish soap, cleaning sponge, hand towels
  - One of the bathrooms is very large with two sinks.
  - Bathrooms had toilet paper, towels, one hairdryer for the unit, bar soap and lotion. Also, four beach towels are provided.
  - Other amenities: boogie board and snorkel gear including flippers are in the unit.
  - Washers and dryers right behind the unit (also behind the office).
  - We had a member of our group that used a cane and there are only a few steps to get into this unit which was nice. Also, there are about six steps down to the property from the parking lot, I don't think there were steps on the other end of the parking lot though.
  - Seems like a safe part of town.
  - I booked this unit online right from their website and received all documents via email which made it very easy.
  - Another bonus when booking was that you could see the pictures of the exact unit you are going to stay in and be able to book that exact unit.
  
  Cons:
  - Couch is a bit uncomfortable, probably ready for replacement or at least the the cushions are.
  - Beds are okay, nothing fancy
  - Master bedroom bathroom is small with no counter space, just a small ledge.

  Stayed at the cove in Unit 118. If you are looking for a VERY quiet out of the way vacation stay, this place is it! Great property, great views and very mellow atmosphere create a great vacation enviroment to relax and read. The cove has arguably the best snorkeling on the island to IMO

  Honokeana Cove is the best hidden location on Maui and also the best value. Snorkeling right there in the cove is ideal: beautiful coral and fishes, and turtles galore! We also could spot whales in the distance from our lanai! We will come back!

  We have stayed here 5 times over the past 10 years. While on Maui I would not, quite honestly, consider staying anywhere else. There is no white sand beach, although plenty of them are within walking distance. You go to Honokeana Cove because you 1) want to snorkel and see turtles, 2) seek an intimate, tranquil setting, and 3) want easy, quick access to water without a 7 story drop down some distant elevator located above a parking lot on the opposite side of the building requiring a traipse across 3 tennis courts and a bocci ball lawn before you can get your toes wet; but uh-oh, you forgot your coral-friendly sunscreen so you have to reverse the process and then come back down to the water while you wade through humanity in the hotel/condo lobby. Not for me. I already feel enough like a tourist without rubbing elbows with 350 other confused travelers who are trying to find a good deal on a hula show.

  Two problems that I know can be fixed. The first night there, my friend must have leaned on the towel bar and it broke. It was never fixed the whole time we were there making hanging wet towels hard to do. I know the management discourages hanging up towels on the railing etc...The second the pool is VERY hard to get into and out of, since the first (or last step depending on if you're going in or out) is very steep. The long bar coming up to hold onto is very low making you off balance, too. The ADA(Americans with Disabilties Act)is something that I will make sure is enforced, not just for me, but for others. If I didn't have my friend with me to actually move one of the patio chairs, I would have to yell for help. I think I'm paying enough for the condo, that this should be fixed as soon as possible. This is a requirement per the ADA (americans with disabilities act) Thank you!

  The Cove is a wonderful spot that we've always enjoyed and the location of Unit #118 is amazing. However, the condo unit itself had very uncomfortable beds and furniture and ugly decorations. It has been updated and has granite and nice bathrooms and tile everywhere, but it's very cold and not comfy overall. Also, the way the rooms are designed you can hear everyone else on the property as they walk by your unit (or play their TVs with their sliding doors open) and lots of street noise. The deck is incredible and has a terrific view that can't be beat and easy access to snorkeling in the cove. I would not say that it is a family-friendly property because there are a lot of elderly people who give children dirty looks around the pool. And closing the laundry facilities at 8 PM is just ridiculous because you don't want to do laundry in the daylight hours and waste the sunshine. I say that they cater to an older crowd of people who go to bed early and wake early. So if that's your vibe, it's the perfect place for Baby Boomers!
